The Chatham Charter chapter of DECA, an organization of marketing students, competed with other area high schools at district competitions held in Sanford on Wednesday, November 13. The event was in preparation for state level competitions that will be held in March.

Fifth graders at Chatham Charter brought the Colonial period to life on Wednesday, November 13, with presentations for social studies classes throughout the school. Prior to the presentations they learned about the 13 original colonies, the Jamestown settlement, and how Colonial life was different than life today.

The Knights In Service club is once again setting an example at Chatham Charter School of volunteerism and service on campus and in the community. The club is one of the first on the K-12 campus to include elementary, middle, and high school students.

On Saturday morning, May 18, Chatham Charter School held Commencement Exercises for its Class of 2019. The senior class had 38 members and was the fourth to graduate from the school since its high school expansion.

On Friday, May 10, and Sunday, May 12, the Knights Athletic Department recognized its student-athletes and sports teams from fall, winter, and spring seasons during its annual athletic recognition ceremonies. The Athletic Boosters held receptions prior to the middle school and high school events.

On Tuesday, April 9, the fourth grade classes at Chatham Charter School combined to present a wax museum that has long been a Chatham Charter school tradition. Elementary classes and other visitors came through the event that was held in the school multipurpose room.

Chatham Charter School has a new extracurricular archery program that is proving to be popular for students in grades 4-12. Affiliated with the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP®), the club has given students a unique outlet for physical activity.

On Wednesday, April 3, a team from Chatham Charter School was among 17 teams from across the state to share how the school is using digital learning. Senior Sean Sasser, junior Jessica Brown and staff shared with legislators, State Board of Education members and other state level influencers about how students at Chatham Charter use the NC Virtual Public School (NCVPS) in the high school curriculum.

Over 40 high school students from Chatham Charter's DECA chapter competed at the 75th NC DECA Career Development Conference held March 14-16 in Greensboro. Six of the students qualified to compete at the International level in April.

On Friday morning, March 15, the entire student body and staff of Chatham Charter joined members of the Board of Directors at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new addition to the school gym.

On Wednesday, March 6, Chatham Charter will participate in the annual statewide tornado drill at 9:30am. Anyone who is on campus at the time will join students and staff in the exercise.

On Friday evening, January 18, Chatham Charter School crowned its 2019 Homecoming Queen, senior Amber Vaughn, at halftime of a varsity basketball game. The announcement was the culmination of a week of activities including Spirit Week.

On Monday, January 7, the clay art pieces of 45 Chatham Charter eighth graders were on display. During the school day, classes rotated through the gallery to see the artwork that was based around the theme of fast food on wheels. That evening, family members, friends and the public came.

Influenza (also known as the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by flu viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness. The flu is different from a cold because it usually comes on suddenly. As you know the flu can spread easily from person to person so any student running a fever at school will be isolated and should be picked up promptly. Your best protection against the flu is getting a yearly flu vaccine, but you can also take everyday preventative actions to help stop the spread of the flu virus. Eighth graders at Chatham Charter recently finished a 13 Colonies Unit in their Social Studies class. They learned about the culture and different lifestyles for the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies. On Saturday, May 12, at 10:00am, Chatham Charter School will hold Commencement for the Class of 2018. There are 46 members in the graduating class. The service will be held outdoors on campus if weather permits and in the Julia Brent-Milholen Gymnasium on campus if not. The ceremony is a ticketed event.
