Silas Christenbury, a tenth grader at Chatham Charter School, has been selected to the 2021 Grades 9 and 10 All-District Band sponsored by the Central District Bandmasters Association.
The annual event allows students from participating schools within the central part of North Carolina to audition and earn a seat in the honor band. Students that earn seats in the All District Band will attend a weekend clinic with a guest conductor. They will meet students from other schools and have the opportunity to play in a full band group with them under the direction of the guest conductor, rehearsing for a Friday and portion of a Saturday, to perform a concert on Saturday afternoon.
“This is a rewarding experience for all involved and is an honor for Silas to have earned a seat in this group. Chatham Charter is proud to have him to represent us in the 9/10 All District Band this year on trumpet,” said Elizabeth Taylor, band director.
“Silas and Mrs. Taylor modeled through this endeavor how Chatham Charter is an outstanding place to learn and work. Mrs. Taylor is inspiring students in our fledgling middle/high school music program to aspire to new achievements that can showcase their abilities. We value the extra time they’ve both devoted before school to help Silas successfully audition,” commented Dr. John Eldridge, Head of School.
