Students, parents and staff kicked off a new school year last week as Chatham Charter began Remote Instruction. The 2020-2021 school year began with families visiting school August 12-14 to meet teachers, pick up materials and understand expectations and continued this past week with teachers and students logging in at their assigned times for synchronous, live classes. Early elementary grades are receiving a mixture of foundational content study and live interaction with teachers and teacher assistants, while grades 3-12 teachers are presenting daily live instruction on a set schedule.
During this time, it's important that families and students understand the expectations outlined in the Chatham Charter COVID-19 framework. Additionally, the daily instructional schedule can be found here. Please understand that students are required to be in virtual classrooms during all class periods as if they were on campus.
More than any other school year, it is crucial that families have students in school every day school is in session unless the student is sick. Other appointments, family trips, etc., must be kept to a minimum and scheduled on days and times students are not receiving direct instruction.
As always, Chatham Charter administration strongly encourages open and direct communication with teachers should any issue arise. There are many ways for parents and guardians to stay informed of their students' progress, including the Guardian summaries that teachers are using. This feature will provide guardians with daily or weekly updates including assignments, if any, that the student is missing.
Thank you to everyone for rising to this challenge. More than ever, we must stay uKnighted as one team with one vision. Together, we will succeed.
